RAINTAKER “DB” FOR DEEP BILGE AREAS
How does the Raintaker “DB” Work?
Leave the Raintaker® RPU (RAINTAKER POWER UNIT) on the topside of your boat (on the deck, hatch, console or dock). The RPU communicates with the remote pump head via the 8’ umbilical transfer hose. The two work together to keep your bilge from flooding during strong storms and daily rainfall. RPU shown below:
The Raintaker® RPU is watertight and it houses the solar battery and computerized activation system. The RPU has a built in solar panel to use sunlight to charge its batteries, keeping your boat free of rainwater for months on end. A 120V charging port is located on the bottom side of the RPU. This allows for home charging before being put into service. Charge for 8-10 hours before your first use. (Raintaker charger included)
The Raintaker DB will not require home charging if it is left outside, in view of the sun.
The remote pump head is placed deep down in your bilge area and will activate when water is detected. The Raintaker “DB” is a completely standalone system that operates separately from your boats bilge pump. It will not interfere or affect your boats factory bilge pump. Pump head is shown below:
How much water will the Raintaker DB pump?
You can expect the Raintaker DB to run for 60 minutes, removing over 350 gallons of water (3500#’s of water) non-stop if needed. The unit will run as long as needed to remove detected water. Once water is no longer detected, the pump will stop. It will start up again as water is detected at the pump head.
How much sun is needed to keep Raintaker DB operating?
The Raintaker “DB” utilizes an integrated solar charging system to charge its high-capacity battery. The battery is specifically designed for solar charging and offers safe, reliable performance. We do not use Lithium-ION batteries in any of our pumps. Charging happens from dawn/ dusk. Mostly cloudy skies will provide enough charging to keep Raintaker DB operating at peak performance.
Why do I need this if I have a built-in bilge pump?
Most boats sink while tied up at the dock. This is due to stuck float switches, clogged pumps or dead batteries. Most of the time it’s a combination of a stuck float switch causing the house batteries to discharge. As water begins to collect in your vessel, you run the risk of engine damage and electrical problems.
This is why the Raintaker “DB” is the perfect companion for your moored vessel. It acts as a backup system to avoid catastrophe when your bilge pump fails. Our system pumps water up and out of your bilge area and over the side of your vessel, automatically. The 8’ transfer hose is extremely flexible and allows for easy routing between hatches, cushions or decking.
Does the Raintaker DB require any maintenance?
No. The Raintaker collection is maintenance free. There are no float switches and no external wiring to worry about. The system utilizes a water sensor in the head of the pump and a touch sensor on the RPU. The touch sensor allows for pulsing / manual activation and a “touch to test feature”.
What kind of warranty does the Raintaker DB come with?
